Way back on the Friday 1st July Drunk Duck ‘temporarily’ closed all comment, uploaded and additions to their free, online webcomic facility. The reason given for this was that they were migrating to a new server and they wanted to stop all changes to the datastream before going live the following Monday, 5th July. So far, so good. The last time they tried a migration it took the whole site down and months worth of comics needed re-uploading. Happy to oblige I left my updates, hoping to upload on the Tuesday. However, Tuesday came and went and no new site, then the next deadline, and the next, and the next. It’ll be two weeks tomorrow and still no sign of a resolution.
I know that my three webcomics; Tales of the Sly Ditt Inn, Lost Tribe of Pen G’Uin, and The Amazing Adventures of the Reverend Doctor and Starr Amazing, don’t have many readers, and less ‘fans’ but I’m prepared the few I do have are haemoraging rapidly now.
In addition to this, there are three over reaching story arcs in Tales of the Sly Ditt Inn, which I try and try into real time events. There is a short story arc around the rugby world cup planned and a longer, more complex plot starting at around Halloween and running to new year. The Drunk Duck delays and hassles mean that my wriggle room is getting smaller and smaller and I may not make my self imposed deadlines.
If this continues I shall look elsewhere for a similar service and remove my Drunk Duck account, free or not. I’d rather not, so hope that I’ll only be two weeks behind. I’m sorry if you are a reader of my work and have missed the updates and wish I could solve things more quickly. The trouble is with doing things like this as a hobby real life issues, such as work and family have to take priority. Sorry.
Come back soon for, hopefully, a progress report.
